Yesterday Gar and I did the hardest thing, we gave Louie to a new home. It has been something we have felt like we've needed to do for awhile now, but we just kept putting it off because we knew it would be so hard. We put him on KSL Sunday and had a lot of people texting and e-mailing us about him. I was praying that a good family would call, a family that would know how much Louie loved and needed to be treated like a baby, and get the attention that was slipping away from him here with us because of our busy lives and our new baby Charly.
Sunday night a lady called about him. She said that she wasn't even looking for to get another dog but felt like she should check the KSL Classifieds. When she came across Louie she knew she needed him. She already has a female Wiener Dog named Libby who happens to look JUST LIKE Louie. Louie and Libby...so cute! She asked if Louie would sleep in her bed or if he had to sleep in his own bed. We almost died when she asked this because Louie has slept in our bed since he was a baby!
She then asked what kind of food we feed him and it turned out that she feeds Libby the same kind! He will have a new mom that is going to baby him and let him sleep in the bed with her and Libby, and a new best friend, Libby! He is also going to be able to play outside all day in a fenced in backyard with Libby!
As hard as it was handing Louie over, driving away and bawling, me and gar both had a peaceful feeling....we felt at peace and calm.
Louie was such a great friend to us, and he really helped me when Gar was traveling for that year.We got Louie a month after we were married, so it's so strange to not have him with us anymore. His new owner called us today and said "I hope this doesn't make you sad, but Louie hasn't acted like he's missed you guys at all...he has been having so much fun with us and Libby..." Gar and I couldn't be happier to hear that he isn't sad and is loving his new home.
Louie loved to be by Charly whenever he could.
And he would have done anything to protect any one of us. He was very protective and even has a scar from chasing off a dear to prove it, the dear kicked Louie on his back leg and we thought we lost the poor guy. We have so many memories of him that we wont forget, we love him.
MISS YOU LOUIE.
